How do I make a download page for my files?
The quickest way is to upload all the files to one Droply project. Visitors get a page that lists every file, opens PDFs, images and videos in a viewer, and offers a Download all button. If you want your own headline, text and design, make a simple HTML page that links to the files, zip it together with them and upload the ZIP as a website. If you are selling the files, use a shop built for digital products, such as Gumroad or Lemon Squeezy.
When a download page beats a plain link
- You are sending several files that belong together, like a logo pack or a press kit.
- People will open the link on a phone and want to look before they download.
- The files will change, and you want people to always find the latest version at the same address.
- You want to know whether anyone opened it.
For one file sent to one colleague, a plain link is enough. See How to turn a file into a link.
The quick way: one project, several files
- Go to droply.so and type a name for the page, for example
fernway-press-kit. - Select all the files at once, or drag them onto the upload box together.
- Sign in with Google or a code sent to your email. The page is live at
fernway-press-kit.droply.page.
Visitors see a list of the files. They can open each one in the viewer, download them one by one, or click Download all to get everything as one ZIP. You can add, rename or remove files later from the project's Files panel, and the link stays the same.
One rule to know: do not zip the files yourself before uploading. Droply treats every ZIP as a website. Upload the files themselves; visitors can still download them all as a ZIP.
The free plan holds up to 10 MB in total, which suits documents and compressed images. Starter holds 100 MB and Plus 1 GB.
Extras for the page
- Password (Plus): only people with the password see the files. See Password-protect a project.
- Ask for an email first (Plus): visitors enter and confirm their email address before they see the files, and you can export the list as a CSV. Useful for a free guide or a template pack.
- View only (Pro): turn off downloads so people can look at a PDF or video in the browser without the download buttons.
The custom way: your own page
When the page needs your words and your look, build a small website instead.
- Make an
index.htmlwith a headline, a short description and a link to each file, for example<a href="files/brochure.pdf" download>Download the brochure (PDF, 2.4 MB)</a>. The free HTML Template Generator gives you a starting page, or ask ChatGPT or Claude to write one that links to your file names. - Put the files in a folder next to it, for example
files/. - Select everything inside your folder (not the folder itself) and compress it to a ZIP, so
index.htmlsits at the top level. - Upload the ZIP to Droply. It goes live as a website, and every file keeps its path.
This takes ten minutes instead of one, but the page says exactly what you want.
What makes a good download page
- Say what is inside and how big it is. People on a phone want to know before they tap. The File Size Checker gives you the numbers.
- Name files so they still make sense once downloaded:
fernway-logo-white.png, notfinal2.png. - Keep one link and update the files in place, rather than sending a new link for every change.
- Open the page on your own phone before you send it.
